GL2M Engineering

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

MISSION SOLAR

This is a new solar manufacturing facility. It was originally designed by a very large consulting engineering firm. GL2M partnered with Hidalgo Industrial to provide value engineering solutions to reduce costs and bring the project in budget. It primarily included a complete redesign of HVAC, process exhaust, process piping, insulation, and compressed air systems, saving millions, and bringing the project into budget.

HATTIESBURGH, MISSISSIPPI

STION SOLAR STARTUP

This is a new solar manufacturing facility built on a fast track inside an existing facility. It was originally designed by a very large consulting engineering firm. Tom Borkowski partnered with Hidalgo Industrial to develop alternative value engineering solutions to reduce costs and bring the project in budget. It primarily included a complete redesign of all mechanical systems.

STION SOLAR H2SE/H2S SCRUBBER REMODEL

Retrofit of an existing selenium/sulfur gas scrubber plant. Existing plant required routine maintenance shut downs, which severely limited production. Modifications included a cyclone filtration system, redundant pH control system, sump cooling system, and selenium waste treatment system.

MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS

PECOFACET

This 70,000 ft2 building serves 3 primary purposes: office, lab, and manufacturing. It included (3) air cooled chillers ducted in parallel in a primary-secondary piping arrangement, for redundancy and energy efficiency. The heating plant included (2) gas fired boilers piped in parallel for redundancy. The office space is VAV with 100% economizer. The lab area is constant volume with reheat. The manufacturing space is constant volume heating or cooling with 50% economizer, to control humidity and noxious fumes, while minimizing energy costs. Project included an elevator exhaust and emergency drain system. It was designed in Revit 3D.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS

GENERAL DYNAMICS SULFURIC ACID ANODIZING PROCESS

Provided project management and mechanical engineering for an anodizing tank designed to treat aircraft wing sections. The tank had push-pull lip exhaust, free board cooler, pump and heat exchanger, circulation heating system, and acid resistant equipment and piping. A process controller controlled liquid circulation, cooling and heating, and fume removal.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS

DOSKISIL PLASTICS PROCESS CHILLER PLANT

Designed 450 ton process chilled water plant to cool injection molding machines. Utilized variable pumping with special filtration to remove manufacturing residue from water system.
